On September 26th, Live by Living held its annual fundraiser, this year titled “Walking on Sunshine,” at the beautiful Retreat at Solterra. The event was a resounding success, bringing together 120 attendees to support cancer survivors and caregivers.
A Fun and Impactful Evening
The venue was stunning, and the energy of the night was contagious. The space was full of excitement as people connected over a shared cause. The paddle race was a huge hit, raising $7,400. Starting high and gradually dropping, bidders eagerly contributed to help fund retreats that make a lasting impact.
In addition to the paddle race, the silent auction raised $8,000 with 98 donated items. From unique experiences to locally crafted goods, the auction featured something for everyone. Thanks to the generosity of the community, these funds will go a long way toward providing life-changing experiences for those battling cancer.
An Inspiring Guest Speaker
One of the evening’s most powerful moments was our guest speaker, Polly Letofsky, the first woman to walk around the world raising funds for breast cancer. She shared her remarkable five-year journey, during which she was inspired by the strength of cancer survivors. Her story of perseverance and hope resonated with everyone in the room as she connected her physical and emotional challenges to the fight against cancer.
Honoring Our Volunteers
We were thrilled to recognize two dedicated volunteers, Debbie Burkart and Michelle Callahan, for their efforts in bringing Live by Living to southern Colorado. After meeting during a walk in 2022, they became friends and soon took on leadership roles. Their work in organizing a series of progressively challenging hikes, culminating in a summit of Mt. Sherman, has inspired many.
Thank You!
We are beyond grateful to everyone who attended, donated, and volunteered. It was a night to remember and a true celebration of what can be achieved when we come together. The funds raised will go directly toward creating more life-changing experiences for cancer survivors and caregivers.
