Boulder Cancer Fighters

Boulder Cancer Fighters is the force behind the BStrong Ride, held the second Saturday every August. Proceeds from the BStong Ride help fund the Center For Integrative Care at Boulder Community Hospital, as well as a few local cancer non-profits, including Live By Living. Boulder Cancer Fighters and its predecessor, the George Karl Foundation, have been Live By Living’s largest source of funding through the years.

Cancer League of Colorado

CLC is an all-volunteer organization that raises money for cancer research and survivor support. It has awarded more than $24 million in grants.

Colorado Cancer Coalition

CCC is a statewide collaborative working to eliminate the burden of cancer in Colorado.  It publishes the Cancer Plan,  a five-year framework to reduce the risk, incidence and mortality associated with cancer in Colorado. It also maintains a robust resource directory that includes a broad range of support resources for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers, from financial assistance to meals, to groups like Live By Living.

Miller Family Foundation

The Miller Family Foundation supports small non-profits that build towards a better tomorrow for our community, nation, and world.

 

Survivor Support Organizations

Avanti Therapy 

Avanti provides theraputic exercise, symptom management and nutritional guidance to cancer patients who are in treatment or have completed treatment.

BFitBWell Cancer Exercise Program

BfitBwell is a 3-month long individualized exercise program for individuals diagnosed with cancer who are currently going through treatment at the University of Colorado Cancer Center or no more than post 6 months treatment. An extensive pre- and post-assessment is conducted providing insight into diet and nutrition, sleep, stress, fatigue and depression, quality of life, self-efficacy, muscular strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. Participants will be working one-on-one and in semi-private settings completing an exercise program designed by a Cancer Exercise Specialist.

Young Empowered Survivors

YES! is a survivor support group primarily for women who were diagnosed before age 45 (but is open to the young at heart!).  YES! is primarily an on-line organization.

Move, Conquer, Live

A shame-free gym for women and cancer survivors where they can discover their own grit, strength, and confidence at the gym. MCL focuses on strength training in 1:1 sessions with safe, progressive plans that consider treatments and side effects. Terri, the owner, is an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer, CETI-Cancer Exercise Specialist, USAPL- Powerlifting coach, and Breast Cancer Survivor.

Epic Experience

Epic Experience offers free week-long outdoor experiences in Sweetwater, CO to adult cancer survivors and fighters. Through adventure based activities such as horseback riding, hiking, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, kayaking and upright paddleboarding, we  push our participants and celebrate their accomplishments, all the while teaching them that cancer no longer defines them; that, in fact life does continue even after a cancer diagnosis.

First Descents

FD is a non-profit based in Denver that offers week-long camps where they teach survivors kayaking, surfing, or rock climbing.

Casting for Recovery

CFR offers 2-night fly fishing retreats for women breast cancer survivors at multiple locations in Colorado. Reel Recovery offers a similar program for men at a couple of Colorado locations.

Ballard Nutrition

Ballard nutrition, based in northern Colorado, offers a holistic approach to wellness, focusing on nutrition, preventative medicine and overcoming chronic illness. Ballard specializes in oncology patients. Services include grocery shopping and menu planning.

Huts and Outdoor Organizations

Tenth Mountain Division Hut Association

Tenth Mountain is a non-profit that manages a system of 29 backcountry huts in the Rockies situated between Leadville, Vail and Aspen.  Tenth Mountain has been very generous in its support of Live By Living.

Summit Huts Association

Summit Huts manages 4 backcountry huts in Summit County.  Summit Huts has also generously supported Live By Living.
