Planned giving

There are many ways to leave a gift to charity in your will. You can specify a specific dollar amount, or a percentage of your estate. You can make the gift outright or contingent on you outliving another heir.

Talk about your desires to leave a legacy with your attorney. A straightforward way to make a planned gift to Live By Living is to name us as the primary or contingent beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other tax-advantaged savings plan. Leaving tax-advantaged accounts to charity may help reduce estate and income taxes and avoids probate fees.

To designate Live By Living as a beneficiary of your savings plan, request a beneficiary form from your bank or retirement plan administrator. This beneficiary form—not your will—determines how these assets are distributed after your lifetime. Use our full legal name, “Live By Living Foundation,” when designating us as a beneficiary. Whether you want to make your gift in your will or by designating Live By Living as a beneficiary of a specific retirement, savings or other bank account, you will want to include our address and tax ID:
