Donate from your IRA
If you are 70½ or older, you can donate directly from your IRA to Live By Living without paying tax. Typically, withdrawals from an IRA are taxed as income. But when you donate directly to a charity from your IRA, the donation does not count as income (up to $100,000 per year).
Donating directly to a charity from your IRA is called a “Qualified Charitable Contribution.” The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security subject to tax.
