Live By Living Day Hike: Green Mountain. Saturday, October 21

Join us Saturday, October 21, as Dan leads a MODERATE 3.5-mile hike with great views and a good chance to test your uphill muscles without getting in over your head.  Lakewood’s William F. Hayden Park, a/k/a/ Green Mountain, is a real suburban treasure.

Live By Living walks are open to men and women, survivors and caregivers.  Kids and dogs welcome, too!  Come on out and enjoy a beautiful fall day.  If you have any questions about our walks, please contact us.

DAY/DATE:  Saturday, October 21

MEETING PLACE: Florida trailhead off Alameda Ave. in Lakewood

DISTANCE: 3.5 miles

ELEVATION GAIN: about 500 feet

DOGS: Leashed dogs are allowed on this trail

DIRECTIONS TO THE FLORIDA TRAILHEAD:  From Boulder, take Highway 93 to C-470.  From north Denver, take I-70 west to C-470.  Then, take C-470 east to the Alameda Parkway exit.  Turn left on Alameda.  After about a mile, you come to a stoplight at Bear Creek Blvd/Jewell Ave/Alameda.  Turn left here to stay on Alameda.  Drive about 0.75 miles to the second of two parking areas on the left (you will go past a small parking area opposite Utah Ave. to reach this second lot).  The entrance to the Florida lot is shortly before you reach Florida Dr.

From central Denver, take 6th Ave. freeway west to Union/Simms exit, turn left (south) on Union, then right on Alameda.  Drive about 1.7 miles to the Florida parking area on the right, just past Florida Dr. Coming this way, the Florida lot is the first (and larger) of two parking lots that are fairly close together.  If you go to a lot that is across Alameda from Utah Ave., you’ve gone too far.

Be sure to bring:

  1. Rain jacket (and pants)
  2. Clothing appropriate for the weather
  3. Water
  4. Trail snacks
  5. Sunscreen/sunwear/lip balm/sunglasses

Cancellation:  If you need to cancel, please call Dan at 303-808-2339.  If we decide to cancel the hike due to inclement weather, we will notify everyone who has registered no later than 8:00 AM the day of the hike.
